LITFI

LITFI stands for The Lost In The Forest Institute which are a new design agency in the process of setting up on their own with the help of Thoughtful. The two LITFI members are John and Chris which set up a live brief to design their LITFI identity that would be suitable for the printing process as well as the digital aspect of design. I took the challenge of designing for other designers which I found difficult but also exciting.

I decided that an animated sequence would be suitable for what John and Chris wanted. I started off quickly sketching storyboards based on themes of the four seasons and also the everyday life as a Graphic Designer. I spoke to John and Chris about my ideas and the direction I was going to take with the identity. They both encouraged me to start learning a completely new program in order to achieve the animated sequence.

After speaking to John and Chris I started to design a typeface that would be unique to them, but also show something else that I am interested in designing. John and Chris were very helpful when I shown them a quick animation sequence and also the typeface I had designed. They also encouraged me to look at how the animated sequence could be shown in different ways and also how it would work as part of the printing process. I then started designing animation within the typeface instead of flowing around it in order to solve the problem that confronted me.

I am still currently working on the LITFI identity.
